Cluj Administrative Palace turned 115 years old from its construction, a moment marked by a ceremony attended by institution leadership, civil, military and religious officials, as well as former county prefects.

Prefect Maria Forna awarded distinctions titled "Honor for Cluj" to a group of former prefects who served the institution over time. Distinguished were Mircea Abrudean (prefect 2019-2021, current President of the Romanian Senate), Ioan Rus (prefect 1996, former minister), Vasile Soporan (prefect 2001-2004), Valentin Cuibus (prefect 2004), Mihail Hărdău (prefect 2005, former minister), Călin Platon (prefect 2007-2009), Florin Stamatian (prefect 2009-2012, former deputy), Gheorghe Ioan Vușcan (prefect 2012-2017) and Istvan Szilard Tasnadi (prefect 2021-2022, senator).

It was noted that Alin Tișe, current President of Cluj County Council and former prefect for two years, did not receive the distinction. Also, Irina Munteanu, former prefect who handed over the position to Maria Forna, was omitted from the list of awardees.

The "Honor for Cluj" distinctions were also awarded to Paul Zai, advisor to the Minister of Internal Affairs and coordinator of projects financed through PNRR at ministerial level, as well as to Mayor Emil Boc.

The building was completed in 1911 according to architect Josef Huber's design, in the Art Nouveau style characteristic of the early twentieth century. Initially built to house the Cluj Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a function it held until 1940, the palace has served various purposes over time. After 1947 it housed City Hall, then became the headquarters of various party institutions until 1989.
