Contractors have completed the relocation of utility networks and the preparation of platforms for the equipment needed for the demolition of the old bridge, built over six decades ago, and the construction of the new structure. In the area where the new bridge's pile will be poured, demolition works have already been carried out.

The total value of the project is 60,631,451.99 lei, of which 23,158,405.65 lei comes from the European Regional Development Fund, representing 85% of the eligible value. The investment is financed through the North-West Regional Programme 2021–2027, dedicated to sustainable urban mobility.

The new Garibaldi Bridge will have four traffic lanes, bicycle paths, and renovated sidewalks, ensuring connection between the Grigorescu neighborhood and the rest of the city. The project also includes the modernization of Uzinei Electrice street, on the section between Stadium Alley and Independence Boulevard.
