GlobalLogic, a Hitachi Group company, funded with 151,000 lei the development of an artificial intelligence and signal processing laboratory at the Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Information Technology within UTCN, equipped with a high-performance AI educational server that allows students to train and test models on real data.

The second investment, of 96,500 lei, transformed one of the UTCN HUB terraces into a green roof, designed as a study and socialization space in the open air. The project was won through an interdisciplinary competition in which UTCN and USAMV students participated: Andra Brînzan, Alexia Perșa and Attila Pál. Both investments were inaugurated on Thursday, October 15, 2026.

UTCN Rector Vasile Țopa and GlobalLogic Romania country manager Iustinian Șovrea spoke about a collaboration spanning over a decade, which began with internships organized in Cluj by Fortech, a company later integrated into GlobalLogic. The company constantly supports academic life in Cluj through events such as AI Forum @UTCN, the NextING program, Startup an Engineer and UTCN Career Days, and offers internships, traineeships and graduate transition programs for former students entering industry.
