The project of cat houses for stray cats continues in Cluj-Napoca, with the 43rd house recently placed in the residential block area of the municipality.

Mayor Emil Boc appreciated the collective effort, believing that small gestures say the most about a community. He thanked all Cluj residents, property owner associations, and volunteers who supported the project and understood that animals can be cared for in an organized, clean, and responsible way.

These houses provide cats protection against cold, rain, and heat. The mayor specified that it is not necessary to bring stray cats home, but they can be protected through these shelters. If cat houses are not placed, stray cats will remain in unsuitable places such as under cars or in basements. Placing cat houses allows monitoring, sterilization, and adoption of these animals.

Boc emphasized the educational value: when children see adults caring for vulnerable animals, they learn through concrete example what empathy means. He urged the project to continue, inviting every property owner association and every apartment building stairwell to request the placement of a cat house from the City Hall. The mayor concluded that a city more friendly to animals is also friendlier to people.
