Two U Cluj players close to World Championship

Two players from Cluj University, Tudor Coșa and Eduardo Bodnar, qualified with Romania's U17 national team for the World Championship in Qatar, a competition that will take place between November 19 and December 13. Romania will play in group K alongside Mexico, Venezuela and Cameroon, with the possibility of advancing to the next phase if they finish in one of the top two positions in the group or among the best eight teams finishing in third place.

Romania's U17 national team achieved its first-ever qualification for a World Championship. The two Cluj University players were essential in the preliminary phase of this qualification.

Tudor Coșa is a 17-year-old goalkeeper who started in three of the five matches played by Politehnica Timișoara in the second league. He participated in both stages of the qualifiers and was undefeated in the match against Portugal (1-0) that confirmed qualification. Up to that point, he had conceded only one goal and kept a clean sheet in two matches.

Eduardo Bodnar, a 17-year-old striker, played in all six Romania U17 matches in the preliminaries. He won the Elite League and Cup with Cluj University in the U16 category and signed his first professional contract with the club in April 2026. On September 4, he had his first training session with the club's senior team.

Romania will face Mexico on November 21 at 5:30 PM, Venezuela on November 24 at 2:30 PM and Cameroon on November 27 at 6:00 PM.
