Mayor Emil Boc announces that the bus station at 14 Iulie Square, located in the Grigorescu neighborhood of Cluj-Napoca, will be completed Monday, September 14. The deadline coincides with the crucial moment of the Garibaldi Bridge closure, which will be reconstructed from scratch.

Boc returned to the construction site on Friday, September 11, with a different message than the harsh accusations he had launched just two days earlier. On September 9, the mayor had harshly criticized the pace of work executed by Nord Conforest, calling the situation "a mockery." This time, the mayor declared that the contractor seems to be meeting the promised deadline, although he will monitor ongoing and weekend work to ensure completion.

The station is already in advanced preparation phases, with work scheduled for Saturday as well. Traffic is flowing on all available lanes, with only a few tasks remaining.

The importance of the September 14 date lies in the fact that not only will the station at 14 Iulie Square be reopened, but it will also take over bus routes that previously ran on the Garibaldi Bridge. This relocation is essential for managing traffic flow and decongestion during the period when the bridge will be inaccessible.

The modernization project of 14 Iulie Square and adjacent streets was contracted in January 2023 by the Nord Conforest – N.V. Construct – Danlin XXL partnership, worth approximately 32 million lei without VAT. It includes interventions on 14 Iulie Square and Giuseppe Garibaldi, Sigismund Toduță, Traian Grozăvescu, Milcov, Octavian Goga and George Enescu streets.
