OMV Petrom announced an investment of approximately 115 million euros in modernizing the electrical infrastructure of Petrobrazi Refinery. The project aims to both support the refinery's current operations and prepare the platform for new production capacities under development.

The project included the construction of a high-voltage electrical line connected directly to the Transelectrica station, the construction of a new electrical substation and an electrical distribution station. The new infrastructure uses Blue GIS technology, a modern electrical switching system with reduced environmental impact.

The new infrastructure is intended to create the necessary conditions for the integration of projects under development, including the sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production unit and diesel from renewable sources (HVO), as well as capacities for green hydrogen production. The refinery currently has its own power generation unit, which ensures almost entirely its internal electricity consumption. At the same time, a photovoltaic project with a capacity of 7 MW is under construction at Petrobrazi.
