Major Changes at the Stefan cel Mare Stadium, Used by Dinamo and FCSB
The Bucharest City Hall and Sector 2 Hall voted on a protocol for the rehabilitation of the park around the arena, in preparation for the 2028 Europa League final.
Arena Națională, used this season by Dinamo and FCSB, will undergo several changes before the 2028 UEFA Europa League final, a competition hosted here and in 2012, when Atletico Madrid defeated Athletic Bilbao 3-0.
The collaboration protocol between Bucharest City Hall and Sector 2 Hall was voted on in the General Council session on Wednesday, at the initiative of General Mayor Ciprian Ciucu. City Hall will provide Sector 2 with the necessary documents and studies for landscaping, while Sector 2 will handle the actual work: planting, trimming, rebuilt walkways, new urban furniture, repairs to the irrigation system and fence, as well as cleaning and snow removal.
At the stadium itself, work is planned for design and repairs to the structure and roof, replacement of the LED screens on the scoreboard, and modernization of broadcasting and TV transmission equipment.
The arena's grass was completely changed this autumn, after four months of non-sporting events, with an 8,500 square meter hybrid grass surface installed, at a cost of 2 million lei borne by the event organizers. The stadium can be rented for concerts at amounts between 76,000 and 250,000 euros, and for domestic championship matches at 25,000 euros, while annual maintenance costs 30 million lei from the local budget.
