Greek Companies Have Invested Over 5.5 Billion Euros in Energy in Romania
The PPC company is the main Greek investor, with over 4 billion euros already invested and another 3 billion planned by 2030.

Greece's Ambassador to Romania, Lili-Evangelia Grammatika, stated at the launch of the third edition of the Code of Good Practices for Renewable Energy in Romania that investments by Greek companies in the Romanian energy sector have exceeded 5.5 billion euros since the end of 2023.
According to her, PPC is the main investor, with over 4 billion euros already invested, including in renewable energy, and another 3 billion euros planned by 2030. PPC Renewables is, she says, the largest renewable energy producer in Romania. Other Greek companies, including Metlen, Helleniq Energy, and Sunel, have invested over one billion euros together in photovoltaic and wind projects.
The Ambassador emphasized the importance of regional cooperation for energy security and mentioned that Romania has a favorable energy mix, which includes nuclear energy and hydropower, but that both countries must accelerate the development of battery storage capacity. She also recalled that Greece now obtains 52.6% of its energy from renewable sources and has become a net electricity exporter.
Grammatika also called for greater solidarity between EU member states to reduce price differences on the energy market and to improve network connectivity.
