Seven women from Cluj-Napoca transform cancer scars into art
The exhibition, now in its seventh edition, opened Monday at Casino - Urban Culture Center and has brought together, since 2019, the stories of over 50 women.

Seven women who have gone through cancer share their stories through painting and photography in the (On) Cool Art exhibition, which opened Monday at Casino - Urban Culture Center in Cluj-Napoca. The project, organized by the Oameni Buni Association, transforms scars left by oncological surgeries into works of art.
According to organizer Alina Nistor, the idea emerged in 2019, in a creative workshop for people diagnosed with cancer, when participants began to show their scars and share their experiences. Since then, every summer a camp is held where approximately 20 people - models, painters, photographers, and videographers - work on the project.
One of the participants discovered the project in the hospital hallway during radiotherapy sessions, after undergoing breast surgery with removal of a nodule and some lymph nodes. Another woman, diagnosed in 2023, at a time when she says information about her illness was hard to find, became involved to offer other patients the support she did not have.
Now in its seventh edition, the project has brought before the camera over 50 women who shared their stories through painting and photography.
