The .lumen startup, founded in Cluj, won the international Glovo Startup Campus 2026 competition, held in Barcelona between October 6-8, where 21 startups from countries where Glovo operates participated. The company reached the final after being named the winner of the Romanian edition of Tech Catalyst in September, part of Glovo's global Power Up initiative, an award that included 5,000 euros and participation of two team members in the Barcelona program.

.lumen has developed a medical device in the form of glasses that combines autonomous driving technology adapted for pedestrians with artificial intelligence to guide blind or visually impaired people through haptic vibrations. Founder Cornel Amariei explained that the technology works directly on the device without internet connection and is protected by 40 patents.

The company, which has 60 engineers and scientists, is now working on integrating this technology into humanoid and quadruped robots used for autonomous deliveries, both indoors and outdoors. Amariei specified that such robots could be seen soon, first and foremost in Romania.

When announcing the winner, Glovo co-founder Sacha Michaud congratulated the .lumen team and suggested that he could himself be mentored by the startup's founders.
