Volume dedicated to the history of Transylvania, launched in Cluj-Napoca
The launch takes place Thursday, October 1, at the headquarters of the Romanian Academy in Cluj-Napoca, during the "Liviu Maior" scholarships ceremony for 2026.

In Cluj-Napoca, the volume "Rulers and Romanians: The Hungarian File. The Odyssey of the Secret Archive of the Royal Hungarian Ministry of Interior and Its Importance for the History of Romanians (1868-1918)", signed by Liviu Maior, Ioan Bolovan, and Attila Varga, was launched Thursday. The book, published by the Transylvanian Studies Center and Școala Ardeleană Publishing House, is the last work to which historian Liviu Maior contributed.
The event, organized by the "George Barițiu" History Institute of the Romanian Academy and the Transylvanian Studies Center, took place at the headquarters of the Romanian Academy in Cluj-Napoca and also included the ceremony for awarding the "Liviu Maior" Scholarships for 2026, intended to support research on the history of Transylvania in the 18th-20th centuries among young researchers and doctoral students. The total scholarship value is 1,000 euros.
Former SRI director George Cristian Maior, the historian's son, sent a message about his father's conception of historical research, emphasizing his attachment to the historical document as a source of truth and his refusal to yield to the ideological temptations of the present.
Academician Ioan-Aurel Pop, professor Ioan Bolovan, corresponding member of the Romanian Academy, and researcher Attila Varga spoke at the event. Public access was free, within available seating.
