Mayor Emil Boc announced a new financing contract for the Cluj-Napoca metro project, following the completion of financing through the NRRP. According to the mayor, negotiations lasted approximately ten months, and the total value of the contract for completing the project by 2032 amounts to 2 billion euros.

Of this amount, 357 million euros come from the Transport Programme 2021-2027. By December 31, 2029, the project has allocated financing of 557 million euros, of which 305 million euros are European funds, 46 million euros come from the national budget, and 7 million euros from the local budget.

Boc pointed out that 8.8 kilometers of the route must be completed by 2029, a deadline essential for using a significant portion of the financing. The mayor stated that the project is a strategic one, in the medium and long term, and that now responsibility passes to the contractor, who must live up to expectations.

The mayor specified that on September 28, the project for stations 3 and 4 of the metro was submitted, and the pace of work must be accelerated to meet financing deadlines.
