Cluj County ranked 3rd nationally in terms of economic activity, with a turnover of 129.53 billion lei in 2025. With capital exceeding 55 billion lei, the county had 58,708 companies and over 207,000 employees.

Cluj was followed by Timiș County with 127.26 billion lei and Argeș County with 105.59 billion lei. Even in the context of an economy burdened by fiscal changes and regional instability, essential economic sectors such as IT, real estate, and construction continued to perform well.

In specific sectors, fuel trade recorded a turnover of 10.02 billion lei with growth of 2.4%. IT grew by 9.2%, reaching 8.17 billion lei. Freight transport grew by almost 4%, achieving 5.1 billion lei. Electricity distribution generated 4.33 billion lei, and trade in vehicle parts and accessories 3.6 billion lei.

Average sales of a company stood at 134,000 lei per year, with a net profit of approximately 11.3%. Over 55% of Cluj companies – over 32,000 out of 58,707 – recorded profit last year.

Cluj-Napoca municipality, with 35,822 companies and over 142,000 employees, generated 95.06 billion lei in turnover. In IT, 1,188 companies with over 20,000 employees achieved sales of 7.7 billion lei. Real estate development had 336 companies with 217 employees and sales of 337.74 million lei, and building construction 992 companies with 2,316 employees and sales of 1.05 billion lei.
