The Ministry of Education and Research launched the PRIMII program, aimed at students in primary cycles from schools located in areas at high risk of early school leaving. The program has a budget of over 1.21 billion lei, approximately 232 million euros, financed through the Education and Employment Program 2021-2027, and will run for three years.

The Ministry estimates that the measures will reach approximately 50,000 children. Minister of Education Mihai Dimian said the funds are intended especially for remedial activities and learning acceleration, to prevent functional illiteracy and reduce school dropout.

Not all schools are eligible: state units with primary level included on the predefined list, with at least 60 students in the primary cycle, that apply the Early Warning Mechanism in Education by October 30, 2026 can apply. Funding requests can be submitted by October 12, 2026.

The money can be used for the "School after School" program, remedial activities, teaching materials, food for students, counseling for students and parents and therapy services. Parents cannot directly request funds - these are awarded to schools, which decide on concrete activities.
