Work has begun on the new school in the Bună Ziua neighborhood. The Cluj-Napoca City Hall investment is estimated at 30.1 million euros, a sum that includes land expropriations, sports hall, parking and energy efficiency works. The project is fully funded from the local budget, and the school unit will have a capacity of 642 students.

The work is being carried out by the Axial Construct Invest – ArchDesign partnership, which was designated as the tender winner. The contract provides for four months for design and 18 months for execution, with completion planned for 2027.

The new educational unit will include 27 classrooms and four laboratories, a reading room, a dining hall and a sports hall with changing rooms and equipment spaces. Medical, dental, speech therapy and psychological counseling offices will also be included, as well as green spaces and play areas. Outdoors there are provisions for football, basketball and volleyball fields, as well as a running track.

The building will have an underground parking lot with 30 parking spaces for cars and 60 spaces for bicycles. The school will be built to NZEB standard, with energy consumption close to zero. On the roof, 200 photovoltaic panels will be installed, with a total capacity of 90 kW. Two charging stations for electric cars, 22 kW each, will be set up on the grounds.

Mayor Emil Boc stated that he will periodically monitor the progress of the work and wants the project completed within the contractual deadline. Initial estimates suggest that the new school will serve approximately 700 students from the neighborhood and surrounding areas.

The project was launched for tender with 10 bids submitted. The Axial Construct Invest – ArchDesign partnership was designated as the winner in the summer of 2025.
