The 8th edition of the "Dumitru Fărcaș" Festival will take place in Cluj-Napoca between October 22-24, 2026, under the theme "Try". Events will be held at Radio Hall, "Dumitru Fărcaș" Student House of Culture, and Edison House of Music.

The National Instrumental Performance Competition takes place on Thursday, October 22, starting at 6:00 PM, at Radio Hall. Folk music instrumental soloists aged 16-30 from Romania and traditional Romanian communities in Vojvodina, Timok Valley, Chernivtsi, Hertza Region, Transcarpathia, and Moldova can participate. Public access is free.

On Friday, October 23, at 6:00 PM, the Award Winners' Gala takes place at the "Dumitru Fărcaș" Student House of Culture, where competition winners are presented. Tickets, available on Entertix, cost 30 lei.

The edition's novelty is the "When Jazz Meets Taragot" concert on Saturday, October 24, at Edison House of Music, featuring Michal Marcus on taragot, Andrei Mânzat on piano, Vitályos Lehel on double bass, and Frankie Ercsei on percussion. 200 tickets will be available, going on sale at the beginning of October.

Andreea Fărcaș, president of the "Dumitru Fărcaș" Foundation, said the festival aims to bring the audience closer to the performers' technique: "I want the instrumentalist to be the protagonist, not just the person accompanying a vocal soloist."

The festival is organized by the foundation bearing the artist's name, with support from Cluj-Napoca City Hall and Local Council, the Ministry of Culture, and Cluj County Council. For Cluj residents who have moved abroad, the event brings young musicians from Romanian communities in Vojvodina or Transcarpathia to the stage, alongside domestic artists.
