Students, master's and doctoral candidates aged up to 30, enrolled in attendance courses at universities in Cluj-Napoca, benefit in academic year 2026-2027 from free public transport in the municipality, according to a joint announcement by Cluj-Napoca City Hall and Public Transport Company.

Babeș-Bolyai University (UBB) students can obtain the free pass in three ways: those in the first year or without a card can request issuance online, on the CTP website or e-Primăria platform, eligibility being verified automatically by ID number; those in upper years who already had a free pass in September can renew it at one of 86 machines at stations; and those who have a card but no valid pass must make the first purchase at one of 11 CTP sales centers, where student status is verified in UBB's database or based on a visaed student booklet.

Students from Sapientia University and the Protestant Theological Institute benefit from a 90% discount, based on agreements with CTP, the pass costing 5.6 lei at sales centers.

For students from UTCN, USAMV, UMF, UAD, and ANMGD, who have no direct agreements with CTP, the procedure is different: these must purchase the pass monthly at sales centers and later recover the sum of 56 lei from the university where they are enrolled.

At CTP counters, an identity card and student booklet visaed for academic year 2026-2027 are required.
