Data from the Cluj County School Inspectorate shows a change compared to the previous school year. If in 2023-2024 Spain led the list of countries from which most children return, in 2025-2026 the United Kingdom took the lead over Spain and Germany.

In the 2024-2025 school year, 44 students from the United Kingdom had their studies recognized in Cluj, and in 2025-2026 there were 37. Spain ranked second with 36 requests, followed by Germany with 29 requests. These three countries represented 44.93% of the total recognition requests.

At the level of the Cluj County School Inspectorate, in 2025-2026, 323 requests for recognition of studies were registered for Romanian students returning from abroad or foreign students. The number is approximately the same as the previous year, when 330 requests were registered. Most of the requests, 183 files, came from students in the primary cycle. In the middle school cycle, 62 students had their studies recognized, and in high school 45 students. A group of 90 students requested recognition at the educational institution level, either due to lack of documents, or because they came from an unrecognized form of education.

Other trends include increasing numbers of students from Ukraine, with 22 students in 2026 compared to 13 in 2025 and 11 in 2024. Italy also increased, with 26 requests in 2026 compared to 21 in 2025. Students also came from France (11), Austria (11), Republic of Moldova (5), Belgium (5), Netherlands (5), Switzerland (2), Greece (2), and fewer from Hungary, Ireland, Portugal, United States, United Arab Emirates, Canada, Australia, and Qatar.
