Cluj-Napoca will have a new bus line connecting five neighborhoods
Line 49, which starts operating on October 26, will replace lines 43 and 45 and will allow travel from Grigorescu to Iulius Mall without changing buses.

The Municipality of Cluj-Napoca is introducing, starting Monday, October 26, 2026, a new public transport line, numbered 49, which will directly connect the neighborhoods of Grigorescu, Mănăștur, Zorilor, Bună Ziua, and Gheorgheni. The announcement was made by Deputy Mayor Dan Tarcea.
The new line will replace the current routes 43 and 45, eliminating the need for passengers to change buses between the two routes. The route starts from Grigorescu, passes through Mănăștur, the Minerva area, goes up to Zorilor on Frunzișului Street, reaches Observatorului Street, next to the Rehabilitation Hospital, continues on Calea Turzii towards Bună Ziua, then through Cipariu Square, Dorobanților, the County Library area, the campus on Teodor Mihali, and to Iulius Mall. On the return, the bus runs on Nicolae Titulescu Boulevard.
According to Tarcea, the route offers direct connections between areas such as the Music Academy, the Rehabilitation Hospital, the County Library, and the university campus, useful for those who live in Mănăștur and work in Bună Ziua or those traveling from Grigorescu to Iulius Mall. The Deputy Mayor clarified that the objective is for public transport to become a real alternative to personal cars, through direct connections between neighborhoods, not just to the city center.
