The Clinical Emergency County Hospital in Cluj announced the completion of the first three minimally invasive neuroendovascular procedures, two of them for cerebral aneurysms and the third for a vascular pathology at the level of the spinal cord.

The first patient, 50 years old, had a 6.5 millimeter aneurysm of the internal carotid artery and was treated by balloon remodeling and detachable coils. The second, 65 years old, had a 7 millimeter aneurysm of the anterior cerebral artery, treated with an intrasaccular device. Both were discharged 48 hours after the procedure, with normal neurological examination.

The third patient, 81 years old, had a dural spinal arteriovenous fistula that was causing sensory and balance disturbances. The intervention lasted approximately two hours and used the "pressure cooker" technique, with protection of the anterior spinal artery. The woman was able to walk on her own from the first day and was discharged the next day.

According to spokesman Dorel Danciu, classical operations of this type usually involve a recovery of several days or weeks. The procedures are part of a continuous training program through which Cluj doctors exchanged experience at Bicêtre University Hospital in Paris and at the county hospital in Timișoara. Manager Claudia Gherman called their launch "a pioneering stage for Cluj medicine".
