Neurosurgery in Cluj has reached a level of development and equipment equivalent to that in Western countries, according to statements made by Prof. Dr. Adrian Bălașa, head of the Neurosurgery Clinic in Târgu Mureș and president of the Romanian Society of Neurosurgery, at the opening of the Congress of the Romanian Society of Neurosurgery. The event was attended by over 230 specialists from four continents.

The new neurosurgery center in Cluj was designated as a reference project, not only from the perspective of technological equipment, but also from the perspective of training future specialists. The center offers the possibility of training doctors in multiple sub-specializations of neurosurgery and can attract both residents and already-trained doctors who wish to follow sub-specialization programs.

Prof. Dr. Ioan Ștefan Florian, former president of the Romanian Society of Neurosurgery and head of the Neurosurgery Clinic in Cluj, emphasized that the new unit represents a unique concept at the European level. The development of such centers is important not only for treating patients, but also for preparing new generations of neurosurgeons.

Neurosurgery is described as one of the most technologically advanced branches of surgery, and the introduction of modern technologies in Romanian hospitals contributes to improving the quality of medical services offered to patients.
