Simon's Burger, one of the most well-known burger chains in Hungary, opened its first restaurant in Romania in Cluj-Napoca on September 12. The restaurant is located on Eroilor Boulevard and occupies an area of over 200 square meters.

For the opening, the company prepared 1,000 free cheeseburgers for the first customers. One of the first 20 customers received a voucher that allows access to a menu per day for a year.

Simon's Burger considers entering the Romanian market as part of a long-term growth strategy. Csongor Oltean, CEO of the Romanian branch, stated that the company does not treat this opening as an experimental project, but as a clearly defined trajectory, with a target of 25 restaurants in the next five years. The plan focuses mainly on major cities and includes controlled expansion.

The menu offer focuses on the smash burger concept. A cheeseburger costs 16.90 lei, a hamburger 14.90 lei, and Simon's Double 24.90 lei. Portions of fries are 9.90 lei, and milkshakes 16.90 lei. The restaurant operates between 11:00 and 22:00.

The brand intends to compete through the quality-to-price ratio and find a niche between large international chains and local burger restaurants. Tibor Korvin, franchise director, specified that the Cluj opening is also an operational benchmark to study the behavior of Romanian consumers and cost structure in the competitive QSR market.

Simon's Burger already operates 25 restaurants in Hungary and has a presence in Austria as well. In 2023, the brand recorded sales of almost one billion forints. In 2024, the cumulative turnover, including revenues from franchise partners and other brands, reached 5 billion forints.
